At first I loved this album. I wasn’t too sure about their second album Flaws, and their acoustic vibe with it, but now they’re back to a more electric vibe and I was very happy! Shuffle is by far the best song on their album, it puts me in a good mood every time I hear it and I just can’t stop tapping my foot to it. The feel of some of their more laid back songs, like Still really puts you in a, well, a still mood.
Compared to their other first album I think they’ve really taken a step forward and moved the music on while keeping a foot in what they’re about. They’re still definitely Bombay Bicycle Club and the music has their vibe in it.
However, even though there are great songs in there, there’s something that isn’t quite gripping me for the overall album. Quite a few of their songs, after my few listens now don’t keep me interested anymore. I seem to just skip to the few songs that I like. I think it may be to do with Jack Steadman’s vocals being a bit too weak for me. There could just be a little bit more punch to it.
So they may still be creating great music, and the albums definitely worth a few listens, but in my eyes it isn’t a keeper, and I’ll stand by I Had The Blues But I Shook Them Loose as their best album so far. I hope to see more, great things from this band in the future.
